Set a Target, emotional outcome of events, Cultural backgrounds!

1.👇

Set a target, never a goal. There’s a difference in the two. Goals seem well rounded to me, like an ultimate thing. There’s nothing ultimate. Everything can be theoretically done, breached or left behind.Your journey is limitless. Targets are like stations. Once you’ve arrived. Get down, stretch your legs, probably grab a tea. But then as you see the train slowly moving, hop right back in. You are to carry on, never to stop. Even death is another station. You go on without a stop. Happy Dussehra!!(15.10.2021)

Our source of impatience or fear often stems from the fact that we get attracted towards the emotional outcome of events. We want to experience ‘the winning feeling’ again and again or want to avoid ‘the losing feeling’ always. We never pay attention to the fact that emotional outcomes are nothing but by-products of the work done by you.

I was the watching the prize distribution ceremony of Thomas Cup when I noted this. The way these players accepted their medals said a lot about their cultural backgrounds. The Danes were open, casual, free in their approach. The Japanese were very warm, cordial, inclusive in their approach (Denmark and Japan got bronze). The Chinese were more cold, regimented in theirs (silver for them). Couldn’t watch the Indonesians though, who won the tournament, so no comments on them. The channel had switched to showing EPL by then. I must mention here that there is an obvious difference in emotional outpouring related to the results of the teams in that moment which can’t be completely ignored. However, this is just my individual perception of that situation. Nothing against any particular approach but it is just that the difference was quite stark in my eyes.

Om Shanti.. 🙏
