The habit of being appreciative is something that we must remember as much as possible. Whether we’re a spouse, parent, child, sibling, colleague, boss or whatever, the habit to appreciate others can often add a lot of positive factors overall.
I’m writing this because today I realised how less I appreciate others, especially the people I know. Let me give an example here, I tweeted something today and saw my wife retweet it a while later. It immediately struck me that she’s been continuously retweeting my tweets to help me but never once have I really appreciated that or thanked her for that matter. Realising this, I immediately tweeted a reply to her saying ‘thank you wifey’. She was amused at it, asked me why, I said, just like that. She just smiled. Looking at her smile, I realised that everybody in this world wants to be appreciated and even if in a small manner, it really does leave a very deep impression on one’s mind.
So, I feel we should really remember to be appreciative of others in general. Personally as a father also, I should be more appreciative of my child, his efforts. But very often my expectations on him can cloud my judgement into not appreciating his efforts. Appreciating somebody for his or her efforts can have a twofold result in my opinion. It will give the person confidence irrespective of the result and it can make us feel nice to make someone feel good. For me, personally today it felt very good just to see my wife smile, it felt like I did something very unselfish, like I truly gave away something without asking for anything in return.
Om Shanti…..?

Nice one. In the larger spectrum of life, we seldom given importance to the trifle yet significant moments which are valuable.
