How do you track growth?
Well, there’s no fixed way for that. Growth is subjective, it is a concept. What appears as growth to some may very well appear as pull back to some others.
‘Concept?!’ Some may exclaim. ‘Yes, it is.’
Let’s take my example. For me, personally this period of enforced confinement has brought about tremendous personal growth. As a human being, I believe I’ve done well in terms of wellbeing and grown a lot in life. I’d say that this was probably what was needed for me. This global scenario, even though I know that it is plain wrong to say something like this where a lot of people lost their lives and livelihoods.
I sincerely apologise for that. However, having said that, I genuinely believe in whatever I just mentioned about my personal development.
Now, let’s get back to growth as a ‘concept’. In my viewpoint, I grew during the past few months but if you ask somebody close to me, his or her viewpoint might differ. That person might say, ‘Come on! He lost his entire business, two years’ hard work came to a sudden halt. How can it be termed as ‘growth’ ?’ Now he/she is right in every sense with a different viewpoint.
So, you see, same situation, two very different concepts about growth or the lack of it.
You’ll oftentimes find growth with a progressive thought pattern. Develop that and there’s growth everywhere then.
Om Shanti….?
