Short Stories!

1)?

As I went to work the other day, I gave a lift to an old police lady on my way.
Now, I know it isn’t advisable at this time of a global pandemic. But to be honest, the human angle completely threw out the viral angle from within me.
I could make out that she was struggling a bit to walk. As she asked, ” Mala please sodta ka titparant?” (Can you drop me till there please?). I said yes immediately. On the way we barely spoke. She just asked me where I stay and all that usual stuff.
As she got down, I spontaneously said ‘thank you’ to her. She looked at me surprisingly and said, “Arre khara tar me tumhala thank you bolayla paije!” With that she left hastily as it was raining that time.
I saw her go and thought, ‘she’s right. I gave her a lift.’ But then I just gave away a smile when another thought hit me.
Perhaps my subconscious mind was grateful for the entire police force of our country for the exceptional job they’ve done especially during this tough period. A ‘thank you’ was the least that I could say in regards to that then.
Instantly felt much better with that thought.

2)?

The other day one of my fellow coaches called me in the evening and said, ” Sir aapke building ke samne khada hun. Zara neeche aao na please.” (Standing by the side of your building, please come down)
I went down to see that he’s got kheer(sweet) for me on the occasion of Eid. I took it and asked him to wait a bit.  I went up to my house and came back down in no time.
As I went near him I tried to give him an envelope to which he flatly refused at first. “Arre kya sir? Nahi rahne do.” (Please let it be) He wasn’t ready to accept my token of love (money in the envelope) in return.
Finally, after repeatedly failing to convince him to take it I had to apply Bhrahmastra out of compulsion. ” Tu ‘Eidi’ lene se mana karega? ” (You refuse to take Eidi?) I said with a firm look on my face. He looked at me helplessly and took the envelope from my hand.
As I went up, the first thought that hit me is ‘how fearful people are about the Self.’ This fear of Almighty comes from ignorance and nothing else. This is fear of the unknown. This is the one root cause of blind faith and false belief.
This can only be overcome with instilling a general idea of spirituality amongst people. The general improvement in understanding the Self will change the world in no time. We won’t be like lab rats then, getting tossed here and there by trivial matters whatsoever.

Om Shanti….?

I'm a former professional badminton player. I've been writing about whatever the mind can grab hold of. If I can help anybody with my articles then I'd be grateful. Thank you.
