“If a concept or principle finds its place in an explanatory theory, it cannot be excluded on methodological grounds.”― Noam Chomsky
This ? brings a few more thoughts in my mind. Can we really prove that we are humans? Some will say yes. They’ll say, ‘if I cut open your body and mine and examine them, we’ll find both the bodies to be similar.’ I’ll say, is that really proof or is it just comparing or relating and identifying the similarities of the two bodies and then naming them the same? Point being, without comparison or relativity, it is impossible to prove anything. You relate two things, you form an understanding in your mind and try and explain it to the entire world. Now, if the world understands and gives approval of your understanding then that’s the proof that we’re talking about.
Now take for example God or Self. Can we really prove the existence of Self? The answer is no. But we can definitely explain that IT exists with the help of explanatory theories.
Take your body as an example, Can you really see your body? You’d say yes. ‘In a mirror/camera’ would be the answer. But is that really you seeing you? No! It’s you seeing your reflection. Now you can say that you can see your legs without a mirror. But then it can be argued that you can only understand those legs as yours in relation to the body that you consider yours.
So, the point being, the intellect can only gauge things which is relative. And the finer and finer you go it becomes tougher and tougher for the intellect to gauge. Talking about relativity of finer things, if we say that the body that we see in the mirror is our gross body then there has to be a fine body as well. But can you really gauge that fine body in your mind? No. You can only take it as true in theory. Your consciousness is taking that theory as true, otherwise the entire gross world as you know it would not appear in front of you. And if your consciousness is forming the gross world on the basis of that theory then it has to be true.
Same it is with the Self. If we take the vibrational dimension or this conscientious dimension as a part then there has to be another dimension which is basically non-vibrational or constant according to relativity. And it can be said that both the dimensions are One and the same thing just like your body. The finer body needs the grosser one and vice versa to realise each other’s existence. They cannot separately exist. They have to be One to exist at the same time they can be termed different in theory as well.
Now, the question is, if we can understand theoritically that both the dimensions exist, how would you prove their existence? You cannot. Because our physical aspects don’t allow us to venture into that constant dimension practically. Thus, the only way to prove it’s existence is to theorize it with relativity. Theorizing it with relativity will gradually let us understand the Oneness of the dimensions as well.
That is why it is extremely difficult to even word down what God or the Self is, let alone try to prove Its existence. I hope this article makes a bit of sense. Honestly, whatever I wrote was so difficult to write. It’s like, the understanding is there in the mind but for it to be worded and put down as a write-up is quite difficult.
Om Shanti…..??
