Dreamy-Eyes was sitting under the shadow of a giant tree, sweat gushing out of his long mane like Ganga itself . The sun was scorching up in the sky. It felt as if it’s wrath will burn the entire surface of the earth. He could feel the heat while wearing nothing up top and just a strand of yellow cloth down there.
Dreamy-Eyes looked up at the giant ball of fire and smiled gently. He sat straight up in a king-like manner as if to close his eyes to rest. That warm smile bearing like a crescent moon on his face.
A little bird was watching him from one of the branches of that tree. It gave a smirk and thought, ‘ Who is this weird clothed man? What’s that stunt of sitting straight up king-like just to sleep? Why is he not lying down to rest under the shadow? What’s that smile when I’m barely able to breathe in this heat?’ Irritated the bird looked the other way.
And just then, it heard a voice, it knew immediately that Dreamy-Eyes was whispering in its ears.
‘Bird, oh bird! Do you know what?
The sun asks you,
Before giving your due,
It can shoot no fire,
Against the power of your desire,
Get out there, stretch your feathers,
And you will feel the sun before you withers.’
With that, the little bird could feel itself growing exponentially, it’s strength growing as ever, it’s wings spreading out as if to say, ‘Let’s take flight!’ It was feeling majestic, never as good, strong and at peace as ever before.
It spread its wings, took the flight and immediately realized that it was little no more but has turned into an Angel Phoenix. It went high up in the sky and stretched its wings as wide as it could. It could see that the span of its wings has covered the sun completely and life down on the surface was rejoicing as it brought much needed respite from the heat.
The bird, who’s a Phoenix now, decided to glance back at the bottom of the tree to see Dreamy-Eyes one more time. He was not surprised to not find him in his place. The majestic Phoenix closed its eyes, gave a gentle smile, the same as the one he saw Dreamy-Eyes give out and uttered three words, “AUM NAMAH SHIVAAY…..” ?
