When I look at couples dating and showing some PDA, first thing that comes to mind is the peculiar behaviour that they exhibit. It is almost like they are in a trance. The courting is as animalistic as any other species.
This begs the question, is love for another person, especially the one an individual is trying to mate with, an instinctive act or a feeling which is basically a chemical reaction in this case? I guess it is both, the act and the way one reacts is compiled into one whole concept that is love between two persons.
Now, this also means that love and the institution of marriage cannot be related in more ways than it can. Marriage is much more about the long-term effects of one’s well-being and existence than anything else. This includes the very important aspect of pro-creation. Here, I want to remind people that mating is completely different to pro-creation. Mating is the process, pro-creation is the outcome. As an individual, pro-creation is predominantly our responsibility in terms of what we wish to pro-create. Love between two individuals can often be found to be an ill served parameter when it comes to pro-creation. I’d even go to say that rationality would be a far better parameter to choose between the two. By rationality, I mean to find a mating partner best suited for one to pass on one’s gene that will give it the best chance to thrive in future. 🙏
