The occassion of festivals of any religion is the time for one to practise discipline. These occasions are created so that we can devote the day to pray, worship, fast, clean ourselves and surrounding in an appropriate manner. The occassions exist for us to go within and align ourselves through various kinds of good, pious deeds. May Lord Ganesha shower his blessings to everyone!! Happy Ganesh Chaturthi!! (10/09/2021)

How can sports help in one’s life? For starters, discipline is the word that comes to mind. Discipline as in mental and physical. Mental discipline is easier to guess. What is physical discipline though? Physical discipline means the way you breath, your body coordination, movement, strength, muscle resilience, blood flow, heart beat, metabolic system, general immunity and many more. And then there is experience. You go through heart breaks and euphoria on a regular basis. You get engineered to shrug off a heart break or euphoria almost immediately and focus on the job at hand. So, to get associated with some sporting activity in life is very important for overall wellbeing. Don’t aim to become champions or even competitive to begin with. Aim to do it right and sports will give back a lot more than your expectation.

We, the ones with jobs, small businesses, the middle class so to say, demand more salary, more income, less tax to be paid but are generally reluctant in increasing the salaries we pay to our household helps, drivers and the working class who are living off what we pay. This labour class in our country is mostly unorganised, incoherent because of reasons such as population, lack of awareness etc. They are easy to divide as well. Thus, their income mainly depends on an unwritten, word of mouth kind of a system even though we have a robust labour law in India. This is where we, the middle class have to be more aware. We have to increase their salaries on a regular basis, atleast when our incomes increase. I know some of us are doing it already. And, to be honest, more and more are doing it than say a decade ago. Many seem to gift things on special occasions which is brilliant. But, a consistent increase of pay would be better for longterm sustainability. This is a basic thing which many of us can do as a small service to our country. Otherwise, we simply cannot blame the ruling class, government having not done our part of the bargain.

Om Shanti.. 🙏
