In our quest to attain deeper awareness, the mind always comes in between. It hinders our progress at every moment. It is because of the friction between stillness and motion. The intellect seeks movement for it is the base on which it functions. You seek stillness for it is the only way You realise the phenomenon of this chaotic apparent movement. It is ultimately the universal law. No escape from this. So, as we start out meditative practice, the mind vehemently resists at first and we feel like stillness is non-existent. But with practise we slowly come to realise it. Mind you, the thoughts keep coming and going regardless, the mind is designed to generate them. However, we slowly realise that these thoughts are not permanent and the mind is simply doing its job. We realise that We were attaching ourselves to them and getting affected by that. We realise that thoughts are like passing of a phase like anything else and We are much more than our thoughts.

Spiritual practice or self awakening or whatever you want to call it gives us one vital ‘power’ if I may say so. That is to have ‘faith in our intuition’, rather have courage to listen to it no matter what. Mind you, this thing never leaves us. Even when we are just drifting through the motions of life, it is always trying to guide us. But, with less awareness or stillness, we generally can’t differentiate between that intuitive voice and the normal one filled with emotions and reasoning. We often go with the latter as it mostly tries to guide us towards silly enjoyments, the immediate happier option, the safer option and so on. Quite often, we also ignore the voice out of fear. The intuitive voice gives us the correct perspective which may or may not always be enjoyable, happy or safe in short term. Thus, daily practice of awareness makes us see long term and helps shed the primary fear of all life which is the fear of death. As we work on these two we gradually become more comfortable relying on our intuition. We handle the intuitive messages in a much better way. And as that happens, we become superior judge of things around us.

Nothing but look within. In the void between our thoughts and actions, there is that moment. That moment where many of us feel anxious, tetchy. And, our anxiety, our tetchiness generally forces us to act hastily. We act out of impatience whereas all we need to do then is to let the things fall in place on its own. The endless possibilities become limited when we act just for the sake of it.
