Our Confused Society!

As a society which has seen foreign interventions since generations, we’ve just become confused in our way of being.

Last foreign intervention (not blaming the intervention, mind you !), the British rule has made us aware of materialistic things more than ever before. Now, in a way it was good for us to have realised what development is in terms of being an accumulative world. It really improved a lot of things in the society, no doubt.

But it also pulled back the influence of our greatest strength. It is the influence of spirituality. The influence of prioritising wellbeing. We have become more inclined towards accumulating materialistic wealth rather than treasuring the wealth that has been instilled in us since generations.

This has led to a massive confusion in our consciousness (It’s like Rahul Dravid trying to play the Virender Sehwag way or vice versa). We must understand that accumulating material is not in our instinct like the western culture. Well, we need to accumulate to some extent to survive. But then, that doesn’t mean that we blindly follow that culture.

And, remember by following the originality always gets lost. By following, we’ll always be chasing shadows of the western culture. By following we’ll always have a worker’s mindset. By following we’ll always remain status driven. We’ll always be one step behind. The world will always look at us as a nation of cheap labour whose best minds flee the country to work for some other country or person.

So what exactly is our originality? I guess, we all know it. It’s spirituality. It’s being in harmony in the midst of extreme chaos.

So as much as we should adopt the western philosophy to remain well on the outside, we should also stress on ours to remain well on the inside.

This disturbing trend of blindly following is not going to drill out our true identity. It is not going to create our own brand as a nation.

We must device a plan which enables us to utilise the best of both. We must create a nation where our primary instinct is intact along with the adoptive measures.

The schools and colleges need to groom us in a way that fits right for us rather than them trying to fit us as best as possible in terms of the western way.

I personally long to see a culture cultivated to bring out the best of us.

Om Shanti….?
