‘Okay’ is such a magical word.
So much confusion can be avoided if we just say ‘okay’ sometimes instead of a full sentence.
I was trying to put my point across to the wife. She replied to me saying she doesn’t agree to the point. This definitely irked me a bit. We had a flare up and ended the topic abruptly.
But then I realised something. Two individuals will most often have differing opinions. In this case, it was certainly that.
But, instead of saying, ‘ I don’t agree ‘ if a person says ‘okay’, then a lot of unnecessary occurence can be avoided.
Even to a differing opinion one can say ‘okay’ just to acknowledge the other person’s opinion. But, it wouldn’t mean that one actually agrees to that opinion.
But, in saying ‘okay’ what can happen in most cases is that the other person may think that one has agreed to his/her opinion and be satisfied. The chance of a subsequent flare up can reduce in such a simple change of response.
On the other hand, one shouldn’t have to feel guilty of misleading the other if the ‘okay’ is genuinely meant as an acknowledgement. ?
Om Shanti….?
