Self Help! ?

When somebody can gauge the future and take a decision based on that, he or she is termed as a visionary.

Generally speaking, ones who are successful are termed as ‘visionaries’. They are the ones who had a dream and turned it into reality and that became a huge success story. It’s all ‘wow! Take a bow!?? ‘ and all those usual stuff of our society for that person then.

But, what about the ones who envision a potential negative outcome in future and succeed in preventing that from happening? Aren’t they visionaries as well? Ofcourse they are. I’d say equal visionaries as the other tribe but may not find themselves highlighted as much.

That’s the catch here, creating a bubble and preventing a potentially damaging bubble from getting created are both equally successful ventures.

We shouldn’t get demoralised or carried away by all the ‘success’ stories flying by us. You’re also a ‘visionary’ if you’ve chosen safety or security looking at the future. You’re trying to avert potential damage to you and your family.

Vision is multi-dimensional. Envisioning negativity and trying to act against it is ‘vision’ and equally laudable as well.  Success is relative. It’s a state of mind. Your being is your vision, success itself.

Oftentimes I find life coaches, self help books saying, ‘surround yourself with positive people and see the change in you.’ I find this statement a bit misleading for a commoner like me. Here’s why.

Positive people are not commodities that you go and buy from the market place. And most of the common men find themselves surrounded by people who are generally very frustrated with life. They usually find people who are frustrated with the government, with their bosses, with their spouses and what not. So, to tell a person to cast them all away from one’s life is basically saying, ‘cast your entire social circle away and go stay in a jungle.’

How do we solve this problem then? Well, to me, there is a potential way out.

Read books of spirituality, some achievers’ biography and try to resonate with the message in them. Slowly, those books will change the way you be. Try and meditate immediately, even if just for a little while after reading. This gives those thoughts, messages your calmest mind to settle down.

As you make this a habit, try the next step slowly. In this step, try and pick up one or two positive traits in those same ‘frustrated’ people you are surrounded by. Now, as this second step becomes a habit, you’ll find that everyone has something wonderful to offer. Even if nothing, then the one thing they definitely have to offer you is the lesson of ‘how not to remain frustrated.’

Om Shanti….?

I'm a former professional badminton player. I've been writing about whatever the mind can grab hold of. If I can help anybody with my articles then I'd be grateful. Thank you.
