Non-attachment and it’s Help in my Life

Attaining a certain degree of non-attachment is so important in understanding the relevance of the polar opposites. In my case, when I was playing, I didn’t understand that at all because of my ignorance of it.

I used to be so angry over how my coaches are treating me, how the association is functioning in such a biased way, how the entire system is working to ensure that me and players like me are put down and so on. Looking back at it, I realise that I must’ve wasted a lot of time and energy in thinking in such a negative way. My energy and time could’ve been put to better use for sure.

Now, as I’m consciously growing more and more, all thanks to the great science of wellbeing called meditation, I realise that when you are non-attached, the ability to understand things through a broader perspective increases. While many players like me were feeling betrayed by the system in every sense, many others were actually benefitting from it during that time.

Isn’t this exactly how the law of nature works though?

When one side goes down, the other side goes up. It’s simple. The dinosaurs’ demise brought about the eventual rise of humans. While in my personal case, the apparent betrayal of players like me gave India a lot of good results, stars, laurels at the same time. While I lived with the frustration, I can confidently say now that learning to be a bit unattached or let go of my viewpoint has made me see the other side. I probably wouldn’t have been able to see the other side without that.

I’m sure there are many who go through this sense of betrayal many a times in their lives. Why does it happen to me is the common question that comes to mind? While I’m not saying that I’ve become this Mahatma to preach this great virtue of non-attachment, I’m just trying to hint that sometimes if we let go of our viewpoint and adopt a more neutral one then it helps us attain peace. Ultimately, more than anything, we all want peace in life. The ability to see things as a neutral can only be possible by attaining a bit of non-attachment. And it can definitely be attained by the regular practice of meditation.

To be honest, this great virtue of non-attachment helps in every aspect of life.

Om Shanti….?
