Nepotism or Not..The choice is Yours!

The word that I’m hearing the most nowadays is nepotism. To that I keep on thinking, wasn’t nepotism the cause of death of millions in Mahabharat? Didn’t the Gods have to sacrifice an elephant to give a second chance to Ganesh on Goddess Parvati’s insistence to save her son?

The point of those references is that nepotism existed, it exists and it will exist in future. It is a very natural thing if you think rationally. As long as there’s life and it’s emotional connections, nepotism will exist. I’ve been a victim of nepotism for years in my badminton career. Some of my former acquaintances have been very vocal about its existence in the badminton circuit. One of the stronger reasons for me to quit playing was that itself.

But, I’m not going to fret about its existence. I’m here to write about a way of dealing with it. I believe this way it will be easier for an individual to handle it. Let’s face it, almost everybody must’ve been a victim of nepotism or atleast the feeling of it at some point in their lives. There’s no way we can get away from it as long as we are in this complex human social structure.

So how do we deal with it? Well, I believe the only way we can deal with it is through acceptance. Acceptance will help you make peace with it. It’ll help you see it in a simple way which is ‘as long as there’s emotions, there’s nepotism.’

Some will say that it is easier said than done. It is diffcult to accept such things. Now, I understand all that and absolutely agree to it. But to them, I leave a question. What other alternative do you have? Accept it as a natural occurrence like say happiness, joy, determination, courage and so on. Accept it with the daily practice of meditation. Make peace with it and move on with contentment instead of fighting it to probably find yourself in a dark place.

Om Shanti…..?

I'm a former professional badminton player. I've been writing about whatever the mind can grab hold of. If I can help anybody with my articles then I'd be grateful. Thank you.
