Written from August 2018 till a few months maybe…..
What is life? What is soul? To me, it is something which is there and yet not there. It can be realised but not seen or felt. By writing this I am trying to go closer to that soul. Is it the eternal being that people call God? Maybe. But I am not certain of it yet.
The hectic life that I lead makes me wonder if its really money, power and fame that I’m running behind. Or is it something else? The workload makes me tired but then after a while that urge to get back to work returns. Why does this happen to me? In my opinion, the urge to get back to work is the eternal side urging us to work towards realising your soul. And the tiredness, expectation, bitterness, happiness and every emotion related to work is the human side of us expecting something out of our work.
One day as I was walking to reach my office, a thought just flashed in my mind. A thought which might be alike many others. Are we born to do this mad scramble? Are we just born to to be put into schools to be “educated” then become “skilled” or “unskilled” and then set out to achieve our goals in this world? Goals!? What goals!? To earn money, fame and power!?
To me, there is only one goal. It is the same for everybody. To find the eternal being. To be a bit more elaborate, when I work, do I always think about the result of the work? Maybe yes. But then when I achieve the result, why do I go on to try and achieve a different or bigger result after that? Why is the heart not content after the 1st result achieved? It is because through work I try to find that eternal being unknowingly or knowingly and not through results.
To me, we are not designed for this mad scramble to earn money, fame and power but we are designed to realise the purpose for which we need to work. Our work is the medium through which we are supposed to realise the eternal being which is everywhere.
The yearning of trying, achieving and gaining more is actually the yearning of our soul to meet its creator.
We can find what we are looking for through any work if we do it sincerely.
In the hussle-bussle of life I have been going through, I’ve completely forgotten a very important thing. I am engrossed in the “rat race” of human so much that I had completely forgotten that there is a conscience deep within us. We take it upon ourselves to set goals, targets, aims and meet them or atleast try to meet them in terms of materialistic gains. In doing that we completely shut our minds up to the INFINITE within us. We all are one and the same. Different forms but same. Each one of us has connection with each other, right from the smallest of beings to the giants.
Yesterday while meditating I realised that we are just a teeny-weeny part of the great creation that is around us. This also made me realise that I am and of course we are not bound by any duty or whatever that we feel that we are required to do. We are also not destined to do anything. The only thing to me that we are destined to do is realise who we are and what we are a part of. But that being said, our every action will have its own consequence. The life that we lead is a choice. Our every action is a choice. And all those choices and consequences stem from the desire of our mind. All that we need to do is hear ourselves out instead of all the outside noises. In fact we only get a sense of perspective if we start hearing ourselves out.
I believe only by hearing ourselves out we can truly understand and go closer to the soul within us. Sometimes it does feel like I have no reason to work or slog the way I do. The soul doesn’t want me to do that. But then I am a married man with a lovely wife, a beautiful kid and also other important family members. They are physical and emotional beings who are attached to me. So it becomes my routine to provide them as much support as I can. However, this also is a choice. All the moments that we face in our lives is the outcome of our choice. It is we who are responsible for everything that is happening around us.
I realised a while back that we are always trying clutch on to things. Be it a situation, person, moment, outcome, material. Be it the past or the future. We are always hooked on to something.
It’s like ‘oh! If this happens then it’d be great or if that happens then it’d be terrible.’ We are always getting controlled by something that is happening outside of us. But the fact remains that in doing so we forget about the consciousness deep within us which is actually the controller of everything. We need to realise that in order to change everything and take control of everything around us we simply have to go inside and let the consciousness guide us.
While meditating it just occurred to me that this energy of the universe, the life energy as we call it or God is everywhere around us. We, humans are the only intelligent species in this world capable of realising and harnessing that energy. It is that very same thing that has formed this entire universe and it also has the power to get us what we want in life. Anything we want. We just have to show the desire or intention of what we want to achieve. That desire will show our course of action and that action will result into fruits with time. Yes. It’s possible. That same desire to achieve something aligns the universal energy and helps us seek what we want to.
The mind according to me is unique and the most special thing that we have with us. It works as a kind of transmitter. Its like by having a thought in our mind we transmit a kind of signal to the universe. That very signal aligns the universal energy in our favour and helps us turn the thought into reality. So, this goes without saying that we can achieve whatever we want in our lifespan. Be it something materialistic or non materialistic. Our thoughts generate vibration which in turn align the universal energy. We have unlimited power within us. The entire universe is based on subtle vibrations and it goes by this one simple mantra, YOU GET WHAT YOU WANT JUST BY BELIEVING IN YOURSELF.
The majority of us are all scared about everything. We need to be free of all our inhibitions to be able to understand the true power inside of us. We rely on things, circumstances, persons and all other things outside of us to change us. Instead, we need to go deep inside within ourselves to change the things around us. We are the foundation of everything around us. Everything around us depends on us AND NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND.
The only way to help yourself is to help the collective. To be more simplistic, it is just that we should consider ourselves part of life and not an individual life itself to show more compassion and love towards other beings. We are individual physical and mental beings carrying the same energy of the entire universe or having been created by the same energy as everything around us. This is the same energy which existed long before our physical body came into being and will exist long after we are gone. Our physical body has an expiry date but our soul. So we are one and the same and it is for our own inner benefit to think about the collective and consider ourselves part of life rather than a separate being.
Everything that we think or do generate vibrations. Every physical being present in this universe do the same. In that respect we humans are not different to any other species but what makes us truly special is that we have the capability to realise this energy around us. We have the consciousness which enables us to control our thoughts and thus manipulate this energy around. Our MINDS ARE THAT MUCH SEPCIAL. That’s why we have been called the greatest creation of God.
God has created this entire universe or universes. We are a part of this creation. So it is our duty to do as many good deeds as possible. It is by doing good deeds and showing kindness to everybody and everything around us can we serve God. Serving others is equal to serving God. There is a connection between each and every one of the beings of this universe and that connection is God and God alone. So we are all One and that One is the One God.
It would be our mistake to think that God would require our service. He doesn’t. It is for our own good to serve Him as much as possible. The more we serve Him the more we better ourselves. The more we become better the more is revealed to us by God. It is all a chain of events. By thinking about the whole we dettach ourselves of this worldly pleasures and aches which in turn helps us serve God selflessly.
In today’s society we have become so obsessed with the word ACHIEVEMENT that we tend to forget the basic fundamentals of life. We have been ingrained so much materialistic thoughts into our minds that everything that we do or think is to achieve something. In this “rat race” we completely forget the meaning of LIVING. We are here to live and nothing else. We have no duty or responsibility as such. The only thing that we should do is to serve God. And here the meaning of serving God doesn’t mean anything religious. It just means to serve the Whole, the One. Everything around us , right from the littlest to the biggest is One and the same. We should serve the One in whatever way possible. This serving will eventually make us realise that we already have everything that we are seeking, within us. This serving will reveal God to us.
To me the mind has 3 stages. FIRST stage is the stage where you see, hear and do the very normal things of life. SECOND stage is the stage where you become self aware. In this stage you understand that you are as much of a physical being as you are a mental and spiritual one. In this stage is where you actually start believing in yourself. You start believing that you can do and achieve everything you wish for. Here you understand that you are the foundation of your life itself and everything revolves around you.
The THIRD stage is the stage where you let go of the “I” . In this stage you are connecting directly to God itself. You are not thinking of yourself or any other being as a physical or psychological being . You are just thinking about the whole. The thing that is connecting the entire universe to us and vice versa. And this stage is God itself according to me. In this stage there is no good or bad, sadness or happiness and all the things that we imagine. It is beyond all the universal things.
We are always trying to be free of everything. Why is it that way? Why are we always seeking freedom? Where does this unquenchable thirst of freedom end? It will only end when we become one with the God. True love is what enables us to find God. By true love I mean selfless love. An act of true love can be so powerful that it can change everything around.
If you have a vision which even the others close to you are not able to understand, you will feel sad and frustrated. That’s quite natural. You will also feel that you need to show them that what you are trying to do is special. That exactly is where we go wrong. By trying to prove people wrong we enslave ourselves to work for the sake of others’ whimse. We should just try and keep our focus on our vision and work towards achieving it. By doing that, naturally the people around you will realise your vision. We should just let our self-awareness and belief flow in order for people to realise your vision.
“To live is to give” is a very common phrase. But do we actually understand the meaning of it ? We often think to give we need to give something materialistic. We feel that the act of giving should be something which can be visible to the eye. Well, not necessarily, a simple positive vibe in which you want nothing in return is also giving. You are giving out a good selfless vibe to the universe which will in turn makes you happy.
Being humble is a very powerful way of remaining connected to the Eternal One. Humility keeps us aware of our existence in a collective way. Showing humility towards others actually reflects that you are conscious of the origin of the entire universe. We are not superior to even the smallest of creatures. We are equal because we are all part of the Eternal One itself.
We remain engrossed in our day to day schedule of life. We are always engaged with some thought or the other in our minds. Sometimes it is materialistic, personal or some other thing. This goes on till the last day of our lives. Yet, if we introspect then slowly it dawns on us that life itself is the most beautiful thing. It should always be cherished. Instead of that we start cherishing the happy moments in our lives and of course loathe the unhappy moments. We forget that these moments are there because we are alive. The ups and downs are there because of this life that we have. We start taking life for granted. The human life is special because it enables us to understand the true meaning of life in a limited span of time. The ups and downs of a human life actually teaches us that in the grand scheme of things it is the life that is most prescious.
